Obsolete Comics

Obsolete Comics

Editor Application

Thank you for your interest in becoming a part of Obsolete Comics! As the company formed in my mind over the past 5 years, it was always based around an equal team of creatives working together to make exciting new science fiction comics. We want to build a creative co-operative that shares diverse stories from diverse voices, which requires a diverse team of editors. Founded on community values, Obsolete Comics will publish comics that benefit creators and charitable causes alike, and give a platform to new and unknown creators. Our stories will learn from the past, reflect on the present, and look to the future. If you share these values, love sci-fi/speculative fiction comics, are based in the UK and have an interest in editing, then read on and get in touch below.

As a core member of this new, small, independent publishing co-operative, you will own a piece of the company and receive a share of any profits. For now, it would be a casual position with no wage - put in however much time you would like or are able to. We want every editor member to have the opportunity to provide input on our future projects, and we highly encourage bringing your own ideas to the table. We will never require you to make any financial investment in the company - Obsolete Comics will cover the costs of producing any comics. Treat this as an opportunity to learn and grow without having to risk your own finances.

We particularly encourage applications from women, BAME and LGBTQ+ individuals. At a time where systemic racism and discrimination is still a deadly problem, and where the mainstream comics industry is still dominated by priveleged men who too often abuse their position, we feel that building Obsolete Comics with an equal, representative and accountable team at its core is the only path to take.

Thanks again for your interest! All the best,
